Welcome to the Literacy Wiki

This wiki is a resource created by faculty and students in the College of Education and the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlotte. It contains resources and ideas for pre-service and in-service teachers to further the literacy and learning of B-12 students.

We have organized the Literacy Wiki into sections--reading, writing, tutoring and research/scholarship. In the reading section, we include resources for comprehension, vocabulary, discussion, writing-to-learn strategies and technologies that support learning across subject areas. We also have resources to help teachers with planning and in finding books and texts that engage students and further learning. In the writing section we have resources for teachers wanting to implement writer's workshop in their schools and classrooms. The tutoring section offers resources for those working as literacy tutors. We also include a section on Research and Scholarship with reviews of articles and books.

We also post reviews of books and articles that are helpful to teachers:

The Center for Adolescent Literacies also hosts the Multiliteracies Wiki which focuses on digital technologies for teaching and learning. The Multiliteracies Wiki provides a wealth of ideas on integrating technology into teaching. For more information about any of these topics and resources, contact Bruce Taylor, director of the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlotte.
